AUTHOR / HEAD & NECK SURGEON / SPORTS PHYSICIAN
Dr. IrukaMedicine for the decisions that carry riders farther.
A head and neck surgeon, PhD and sports physician who combines medical knowledge with the experience of completing a 1,000 km brevet and the 1,200 km Paris–Brest–Paris.

PROFILE
Beyond determination: the body, judgement and people behind the distance.
Dr. Iruka began cycling with no regular exercise and while living with obesity. He gradually extended his distance, completed a 1,000 km brevet and finished the 1,200 km Paris–Brest–Paris 2023 in 88 hours 29 minutes.
His books explore fatigue management, sleep, fuelling, pacing, pain, overseas travel and the friendships that make endurance cycling possible. He writes through the combined lens of medicine and firsthand experience.
His work is for cyclists preparing to ride farther—and for readers curious about the world of randonneuring even if they never intend to ride 1,200 km themselves.
