Your longest validated BRM between 1 November 2025 and 31 October 2026 determines how early you may pre-register.
PARIS–BREST–PARIS / 22–26 AUGUST 2027
PBP 2027
Preparation
Official dates, qualifying BRMs—and eight questions that matter after the paperwork.
Paris–Brest–Paris is not solved by fitness alone. Registration, overseas travel, sleep, food, equipment and judgement all have to work together. Start with the facts that are already official, then test the decisions you will need to make on the road.
WHAT IS OFFICIAL NOW
Build the calendar first.
Checked against the official PBP website on 17 October 2026.
Earlier access is given to riders with a longer validated 2026 BRM. Riders without one enter the pre-registration window later.
Complete the qualifying BRM series: 200, 300, 400 and 600 km. The organiser explains how longer distances may substitute.
At least three of the four mandatory BRMs must be validated when registering; the fourth must be validated by 4 July.
Always confirm changes directly with the organiser: official Get Ready page ↗ and registration page ↗.
EIGHT PRACTICAL QUESTIONS
The ride begins long before the start.
Which 2026 brevet will you use as a rehearsal?
The longest ride is not automatically the most useful one. Choose at least one event that lets you test the bicycle, lighting, clothing, food and sleep decisions you intend to carry into 2027.
Where will the qualifying series fit into real life?
Place the 200, 300, 400 and 600 km qualifiers on a calendar with work, family commitments, recovery and a contingency window. A plan without space for disruption is fragile.
Can you move your bicycle through airports and trains?
Overseas riders face a second endurance event before the start: packing, baggage rules, transfers, accommodation and rebuilding the bicycle. Rehearse the sequence, not only the packing list.
What happens when you become sleepy?
Do not leave sleep to optimism. Learn how your judgement changes at night, decide what warning signs mean “stop”, and identify realistic places and durations for rest.
Can you keep eating when appetite disappears?
Test ordinary foods as well as sports nutrition. What works at hour three may fail at hour thirty. The useful plan is the one your stomach still accepts when you are tired.
Which equipment failure can end the ride?
Prioritise light reliability, charging, tyres, contact points and repairs you can actually perform. Every item should answer a known problem rather than a vague fear.
How much time will you spend not moving?
Controls, food, queues, clothing changes and indecision accumulate. Track stopped time during brevets and build a schedule that includes it instead of pretending every minute is riding time.
Who helps you make the next decision?
PBP is ridden on your own bicycle, but it is not experienced alone. Friends, volunteers and other riders can change what feels possible. Decide how you will ask for help—and when continuing is no longer the right choice.
